Phaeleh Cinematic Electronic Music

Phaeleh aka Matt Preston released his debut album in 2008 called Fallen Light. Matt has made an interesting style in the electronic, dubstep and chill step music. He is known to change tempos in his music a lot which gives it an unique vibe. His music has been supported by Skream, N-Type, Scuba and Kryptic Minds, as well as radio coverage on BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, Kiss, Rinse and XFM. He has been touring as a DJ but I feel he will make a big name for himself as a producer as well. Check it out below.Phaeleh

Vexare – The Clockmaker (2011)

Music you Might of Missed is featuring a dubstep track by the artist Vexare. This is one of those tracks that a friend tells you about and you’re so glad that they introduced you to a song or artist that you might not have found on your own. This song is dubstep, but it has a really light and almost relaxing vibe, but after you’re all comfortable and relaxed, it drops hard. It’s really unique and if you don’t like dubstep because it’s too wild and intense for you, you might enjoy the more mellow approach of this track.

After doing some research on the artist Vexare I had my mind blown to find out that when the artist wrote this song he was only 14!!! He’s 16 now and he’s continuing to build an audience and write music, but it blows my mind how well this was produced by a kid who was just out of middle school. The artist’s real name is Palmer Hogan and he started training in classical piano at age 9 and then took up producing trance and hardstyle music at age 12. I don’t know many young musicians but I think it’s safe to say that this young dude is a prodigy. Take a listen and if you like it check out more of Vexare’s music online or look for him to possibly be touring in your area.

SizzleBird real name is Ot Moruno Bird, a classically trained violinist from Barcelona. He loved music from a young age and when he got older he went to Purcell School of Music in north London, after that he went to Guildhall School of Music where he was introduce to electronic music. That’s when he decided to get Fruity Loops so he could make his own music like drum and bass, chillstep and breakbeats for his violin the play over. If you are looking for atmospheric, heart-felt and relaxing music SizzleBird is the way to go.

Rhye seductive blend of dreamy vocals on top of soulful electronic music

The Rye is a band that loves to put the soul in some deep electronic music. Two members Robin Braun from Denmark and the Canadian Mike Milosh. Robin is also known as Robin Hannibal, member of Boom Clap Bachelors, Owusu & Hannibal, Parallel Dance Ensemble, and Quadron. Mike is also known as Milosh. They both are known producers in the music industry. Their new album woman, is excepted to do well. Go here can get Rhyes’s new album woman. The singer you hear may sound like woman’s voice but it’s truly the sounds of Mike Milosh the lead singer (Mike Milosh original below).

Captial Cities – Toe Tappin’ Indie Pop

Captial Cities is comprised of two dudes from L.A. that make indie rock with a mix of pop. I fell hard for their track, Safe and Sound. The song is definitely my style with it’s use of electronic synth and catchy hooks. From just that song the band has a sound like MGMT or Foster the People. With some of their other tracks like, Center Stage, you will find a little more funk influence that reminds me a bit of newly released Daft Punk music. What I’ve noticed in much of their music is that they like to use horns in their tracks and you don’t hear horns in a lot of modern music which makes Captial Cities unique.

So, give a listen to Safe and Sound. If you like what you hear give a listen to their other tracks Center Stage and Kangaroo Court on youtube. If you are still wanting more they also do a really cool upbeat rendition of Sinead O’Connor’s, Nothing Compares 2 U. Actually that’s not completely accurate, the song Nothing Compares 2 U was originally recorded by Prince and Sinead O’Connor covered it and it became her biggest hit. Kudos to you if you continued reading because now you know a fun music fact. Below is the video and lyrics for Safe and Sound.

Capital Cities – Safe and Sound Lyrics

    I could lift you up
I could show you what you want to see
And take you where you want to be
    You could be my luck
Even if the sky is falling down
I know that we’ll be safe and sound
    We’re safe and sound

    I could fill your cup
You know my river won’t evaporate
    This world we still appreciate
    You could be my luck
Even in a hurricane of frowns
I know that we’ll be safe and sound

    (Safe and sound)
    We’re safe and sound
    (Safe and sound)
    We’re safe and sound
    (Hold your ground)
    We’re safe and sound
    (Safe and sound)

    I could show you love
In a tidal wave of mystery
You’ll still be standing next to me
    You could be my luck
Even if we’re six feet underground
I know that we’ll be safe and sound
    We’re safe and sound

    Safe and sound
    Safe and sound
    Hold your ground
    Safe and sound

    I could lift you up
I could show you what you want to see
And take you where you want to be
    You could be my luck
Even if the sky is falling down
I know that we’ll be safe and sound

    I could lift you up
I could show you what you want to see
And take you where you want to be
    You could be my luck
Even if the sky is falling down
I know that we’ll be safe and sound

    We’re safe and sound
    We’re safe and sound
    We’re safe and sound
    We’re safe and sound

    (Safe and sound)
    We’re safe and sound
    (Safe and sound)
    We’re safe and sound
    (Hold your ground)
    We’re safe and sound
    (Safe and sound)
    We’re safe and sound

Metric – Monster Hospital MSTRKRFT Remix (2008)

Music You Might of Missed Monday is featuring a MSTRKRFT remix of a song by the band Metric titled, Monster Hospital. A few years back I found that MSTRKRFT had some great remixes. Some of my other favorite MSTRKRFT remixes are their version of Justice’s D.A.N.C.E. and Usher’s Love in this Club.

The original version of Monster Hospital is okay, but it doesn’t have the ear pleasing crunchy synths that MSTRKRFT brings to the table. In my opinion, that is what makes this the superior version of this song.

I have no idea what a Monster Hospital is, but I imagine that even monsters get hurt on occasion and if you’re an injured monster, where are you going to go? You can’t go to a regular hospital because you’ll scare the doctor and then he won’t treat you. So you need to go to a monster hospital and hope that you have good monster insurance.

Give it a listen and if you like it be sure to youtube some more MSTRKRFT music as well as other Metric songs.

Atlas Genius – Indie Rock from Australia

Atlas Genius is comprised of three young guys from Australia. The vocalist and drummer are brothers. They have been together since 2011 and they have been trying to break out in the U.S. with tours and being featured on MTV 2. The song that caught my ear is titled, Trojans. The music and the singers voice reminds me of the band Death Cab for Cutie.

Trojans is extremely catchy and honestly, I have no idea what the song is about. The chorus talks about “Trojans in my head” and I’m clueless to what the metaphor means. I’ve posted a link to the video as well as the lyrics below. Check it out and tell me in the comments what you think the song is about and the meaning behind Trojans.

Atlas Genius – Trojans Lyrics

Take it off
Take it in
Take off all the thoughts of what we’ve been
Take a look
Hesitate
Take a picture you could never recreate
Write a song
make a note
for the lump that sits inside your throat
Change the locks, change the scene
Change it all but can’t change what we’ve been
Your trojan’s in my head
It’s ok if it’s gone
The thoughts that you had that it was the one
And oh what is left?
For all those times is that what you get?
Oh regardless
The walls get painted anyway
Oh you’re guarding
The gates, but it all got away
Your trojan’s in my head
Take it off
Take it in
Take off all the thoughts of what we’ve been
Take a look
Hesitate
Take a picture you could never recreate
Write a song
make a note
for the lump that sits inside your throat
Change the locks, change the scene
Change it all but can’t change what we’ve been

Sean Michael – New, old School Rapper

Sean Michael is a very new rapper out of Nashville. There is nothing really on the internet about him but his music below. He reminds me of a combination of many rappers like Eminem, Wiz and Mac Miller. I enjoy is flow and lyrics and believe he can make a name of himself if he keep putting out get tracks.
