Natalia Kills – Kill My Boyfriend (2011)

Music You Might of Missed Monday- M.Y. M.O.M. Monday is bringing you another recent track that wasn’t on the radio but still had something special about it. I love a good pop song but sometimes bubble gum pop like the latest Britney Spears song for the new Smurfs movie is so cheesy that it’s hard to take it serious as music. This week I chose a pop song with an edge. The song is titled Kill My Boyfriend and this is not a topic that your typical pop star would touch but the result is a catchy track with a dark subject matter.

The artist Natalia Kills is from England and was signed to Will.I.Am’s music label after he heard her music in 2008. If you like her sound she has one album under her belt titled Perfectionist from 2011 and a new album on the horizon for a fall release this year titled Trouble.

Enjoy Kill My Boyfriend and let me know if you like the track.

Boy – Little Numbers (2012)

M.Y. M.O.M. MONDAY!! Music You Might of Missed presents a song from last year that might have slipped by you. The track is called Little Numbers and it is by an indie pop duo comprised of two girls, one from Germany and the other from Sweden.

The track has an indie pop sound that would fit perfectly into a romantic comedy film. If you love hard rock or only dance music you will most likely not enjoy this song, but if you are someone who is tired of hearing the same 10 pop songs on the radio, you might find this catchy tune refreshing.

Be sure to check back next week for a new song that didn’t get the playtime it deserved or suggest a song by messaging our facebook page.

Papa Roach- Between Angels and Insects

pr

My Mom Mondays gives you more music you have have missed with Papa Roach “Between Angels and Insects”.  From their first album with the same title, Between Angels and Insects  in my opinion is one of Papa Roach’s best songs and is a song that should be heard by everyone.  It is a song with a lot of substance and one that makes a lot of sense, Papa Roach tells us we do not need money or possessions and we need to wake up and not be obsessed with getting things we do not need.  I definitely agree with them.  Enjoy the Music!

Bastille feat. Ella – No Angels (TLC vs the XX) (2013)

Here’s a track for music you might if Missed Monday that is actually a more recent release earlier this year. The track is a cover of the famous TLC track, No Scrubs, along with some of the sweet sounds of The XX.

The song is weird. It’s definitely a darker take on the original pop song by TLC. You’ll notice some sound bites at the beginning and the end of the song. If they sound familiar or you’re wondering where they are from you might recognize them from the original Hitchcock thriller movie, Psycho.

Give it a listen and let me know if you prefer the original or if you are kind of digging this new take on the 90’s jam.

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros – Home (2010)

Happy Memorial Day!! It’s a Monday and that means it’s Music You Might of Missed. This week I’m featuring a track that I stumbled across just within this last month. It sounded like a new song because it has that really popular folky sound that is trendy thanks to bands like Mumford and Sons, The Lumineers, and Of Monsters and Men.

However I was surprised to do some research and found out that this track was ahead of the curve and was actually released over 3 years ago.

The song has a real throw-back sound and is super catchy. When I hear this track it almost sounds like something I might hear in a Quentin Tarantino movie. I know it has been used in commercials but I couldn’t remember which one I heard it in. The track just feels like it would be a good soundtrack for a lot of situations so hopefully I do hear it in a movie in the future.

Anyway, enjoy your holiday and hopefully you are soaking up some sun and can put this track on.

Breaking Benjamin – Simple Design (2004)

bb

Let’s start Monday off right with some Music You Might of Missed: Sick Rock Artist, Breaking Benjamin’s singles such as “I Will Not Bow” and “Diary Jane” are quite often heard on rock stations but unless you dig deeper and listen to their entire album you will quite often miss a gem such as the song “Simple Design”.  This song is a perfect example of how a sick rock artist creates a sick rock song, blending together most of the best aspects of rock into one pretty awesome song.  Benjamin Benjamin is definitely a sick rock artist that makes great rock songs as demonstrated by the song below, Enjoy!

Cash Cash featuring Lacey Schwimmer & Spose – Red Cup (I Fly Solo) (2010)

M.Y. M.O.M. Monday – Music You Might of Missed Monday is featuring a track by Cash Cash and friends. If you aren’t familiar with Cash Cash then you are missing out on one of the best pop bands of the last 10 years.

They had brief commercial success with their single in 2009, Party in Your Bedroom. After that one track fell off of the radio rotation I’m sure that most brushed off Cash Cash as a “one-hit wonder”. However. Cash Cash has continued to tour and produce music and their sound has developed since 2009 and I believe they are definitely poised for another commercial success very soon.

As for the track, Red Cup, I love this song because it sounds like a house party anthem. It’s so catchy and I can’t help but think about good times in my younger days when someone’s parents would go out of town for the weekend and the red cups would come out.

Give Red Cup a listen and if you like electro pop music please download more Cash Cash. I will post one of Cash Cash’s newest tracks below Red Cup to let you hear how their latest music sounds. Lyrics for Red Cup can also be found below.

Cash Cash “Red Cup (I Fly Solo)” Lyrics

Hey baby, why you being so shady lately?
Oh, what you talkin’ bout girl?
What’s goin’ on huh?
You know I told you, girl you’re always on my mind.
You know that I’m crazy about ya, I need you right by my side.
And I want you, girl
And I need you, girl
You’re the only girl in my life…
PSYCHE!
I’m the gift that just keeps on givin’.
I’m a slut and I won’t stop, ohhh.
Like a drink that I can’t stop sippin’
Red cup, you know I fly solo.
Shawty wanna romp,
Tell her bring her friends
Do it every night
Party never ends.
Like a drink that I can’t stop sippin’
Red cup, you know I fly solo
Solo…
Solo…
(Hey boys, mmm, it’s lacey, baby)
I fly solo
You know I told you boy, you’re always on my mind
You know that I’m crazy about ya, I need you right by my side.
And I want you, boy
And I need you, boy
You’re the only boy in my life…
PSYCHE!
I’m the gift that just keeps on givin’
I’m a slut and I won’t stop, ohhh
Like a drink that I can’t stop sippin’
Red cup, you know I fly solo
Shawty wanna romp
Tell her bring her friends
Do it every night
Party never ends
Like a drink that I can’t stop sippin’
Red cup, you know I fly solo
Solo…

Uhh. yea
Cash cash in the house, baby
Solo
Spizzy spose
I fly solo
It’s cute you want a marriage
Ring finger karat
So you can call up karen and tel her “He went to Jared!”
What up spizzy spose, cougar
You are not enough
T-shirt; a polo, logo, bro go, lift your solo cups
Girl, I’m a lone wolf. And a free bird
Lynard Skynard.
I’m a sinner, talkin’ women to dinner.
Go tel your parents. I’m not awesome, I’m awful.
I won’t settle down, like jamestown, drive ’round hat crooked lookin’ for the brothel
Yeah man, I’m tired of being single.
Dude maybe I should settle down a bit
PSYCHE!!
I’m the gift that just keeps on givin’
I’m a slut and I won’t stop, ohhh
Like a drink that I can’t stop sippin’
Red cup, you know I fly solo
I’m the gift that just keeps on givin’
I’m a slut and I won’t stop, ohhh
Like a drink that I can’t stop sippin’
Red cup, you know I fly solo
Shawty wanna romp
Tell her bring her friends
Do it every night
Party never ends
Like a drink that I can’t stop sippin’
Red cup, you know I fly solo
Yeah. Solo.
Cash Cash 2010, baby
I FLY SOLO

Vexare – The Clockmaker (2011)

Music you Might of Missed is featuring a dubstep track by the artist Vexare. This is one of those tracks that a friend tells you about and you’re so glad that they introduced you to a song or artist that you might not have found on your own. This song is dubstep, but it has a really light and almost relaxing vibe, but after you’re all comfortable and relaxed, it drops hard. It’s really unique and if you don’t like dubstep because it’s too wild and intense for you, you might enjoy the more mellow approach of this track.

After doing some research on the artist Vexare I had my mind blown to find out that when the artist wrote this song he was only 14!!! He’s 16 now and he’s continuing to build an audience and write music, but it blows my mind how well this was produced by a kid who was just out of middle school. The artist’s real name is Palmer Hogan and he started training in classical piano at age 9 and then took up producing trance and hardstyle music at age 12. I don’t know many young musicians but I think it’s safe to say that this young dude is a prodigy. Take a listen and if you like it check out more of Vexare’s music online or look for him to possibly be touring in your area.

Metric – Monster Hospital MSTRKRFT Remix (2008)

Music You Might of Missed Monday is featuring a MSTRKRFT remix of a song by the band Metric titled, Monster Hospital. A few years back I found that MSTRKRFT had some great remixes. Some of my other favorite MSTRKRFT remixes are their version of Justice’s D.A.N.C.E. and Usher’s Love in this Club.

The original version of Monster Hospital is okay, but it doesn’t have the ear pleasing crunchy synths that MSTRKRFT brings to the table. In my opinion, that is what makes this the superior version of this song.

I have no idea what a Monster Hospital is, but I imagine that even monsters get hurt on occasion and if you’re an injured monster, where are you going to go? You can’t go to a regular hospital because you’ll scare the doctor and then he won’t treat you. So you need to go to a monster hospital and hope that you have good monster insurance.

Give it a listen and if you like it be sure to youtube some more MSTRKRFT music as well as other Metric songs.
